Privacy Policy
Welcome to the Racing Blue website (the Website) privacy policy. Racing Blue is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy.
This policy (together with our Website Terms of Use and Conditions) sets out the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, will be processed by us. Please read the following carefully to understand our views and practices regarding your personal data and how we will treat it.
For the purpose of the Data Protection Act 1998, the data controller is Racing Blue.
We will treat all your personal information as confidential (although we reserve the right to disclose this information in the circumstances set out below). We will keep it on a secure server and we will fully comply with all applicable UK Data Protection and consumer legislation from time to time in place.
Personal Identification Information
We may collect personally identification information from Users in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, when you visit our site, register on the site, and when you make a purchase. Users may be asked for, as appropriate, name, email address, phone number, billing address, delivery address, credit card or other payment information. Users may, however, visit our Site anonymously. We will collect personal identification information from Users only if they voluntarily submit such information to us.
Relevant legislation
Along with our business and internal computer systems, this website is designed to comply with the following national and international legislation with regards to data protection and user privacy:
- UK Data Protection Act 1988 (DPA)
- EU Data Protection Directive 1995 (DPD)
- EU General Data Protection Regulation 2018 (GDPR)
- Australian Privacy Act 1988 (APA)
This site’s compliance with the above legislation, all of which are stringent in nature, means that this site is likely compliant with the data protection and user privacy legislation set out by many other countries and territories as well. If you are unsure about whether this site is compliant with your own country of residences’ specific data protection and user privacy legislation you should contact our data protection officer for clarification.
Non Personal Information (eg IP addresses)
We may also collect information about your computer and where you are on the internet (eg the URL you came from, IP address, domain types like .co.uk and .com), operating system, your browser type, the country and telephone area code where your computer is located and the pages of our Website that were viewed during your visit. We may collect this information even if you do not order with us.
This is statistical data about our users’ browsing actions and patterns, and does not identify any individual.
Site visitation tracking
Like most websites, this site uses Google Analytics (GA) to track user interaction. We use this data to determine the number of people using our site, to better understand how they find and use our web pages and to see their journey through the website.
Although GA records data such as your geographical location, device, internet browser and operating system, none of this information personally identifies you to us. GA also records your computer’s IP address which could be used to personally identify you but Google do not grant us access to this. We consider Google to be a third party data processor.
GA makes use of cookies, details of which can be found on Google’s developer guides. FYI our website uses the analytics.js implementation of GA.
We retain our GA data for 50 months after which time it is automatically deleted.
To prevent GA from tracking your journey through this website we recommend installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on extension for your web browser.
Our eCommerce store
As an eCommerce store we will store order information within this website’s database to allow us to process and fulfil your orders should you choose to buy from us. As such, your name, contact information, shipping and billing details will be stored along within this website’s database along with a record of the items that you have purchased from us.
If you choose to create an eCommerce account with us you will be able to see a full record of your order history from your account dashboard.
We are always available to talk to our customers over the telephone but we handle the majority of eCommerce order communications (order details, invoicing etc.) via email. As such, if you place an order on this site you will receive confirmation emails at various stages as we process and ship your order.
All payment processing from our eCommerce store is handled by SagePay, an industry-leading provider of online payments. As such, no payment details (credit / debit card numbers for example) are collected or stored by this website.
Product reviews
Should you choose to add a comment to any product reviews that we have published on any product details page like Storm Equus, the name and email address you enter with your review will be saved to this website’s database, along with your computer’s IP address and the time and date that you submitted the comment. This information is only used to identify you as a contributor to the comment section of the respective review post and is not passed on to any of the third party data processors. Only your name and review will be shown on the public-facing website although if the supplied email address is linked to a Gravatar account, your Gravatar photo will also be displayed.
Your comment and it’s associated personal data will remain on this site until we see fit to either 1.) remove the comment or 2.) remove the review post. Should you wish to have the comment and it’s associated personal data deleted, please email us here using the email address that you commented with.
If you are under 16 years of age you MUST obtain parental consent before posting a comment on our blog.
NOTE: You should avoid entering personally identifiable information to the actual comment field of any blog post comments that you submit on this website.
Email newsletter
If you choose to join our email newsletter, the email address that you submit to us will be forwarded to MailChimp who provide us with email marketing services. We consider MailChimp to be a third party data processor. The email address that you submit will not be stored within this website’s own database or in any of our internal computer systems.
Your email address will remain within MailChimp’s database for as long as we continue to use MailChimp’s services for email marketing or until you specifically request removal from the list. You can do this by unsubscribing using the unsubscribe links contained in any email newsletters that we send you or by requesting removal via email. When requesting removal via email, please send your email to us using the email account that is subscribed to the mailing list.
If you are under 16 years of age you MUST obtain parental consent before joining our email newsletter.
While your email address remains within the MailChimp database, you will receive periodic (approximately three times a year) newsletter-style emails from us.
Transactional email
All transactional email (password reset emails, order confirmation emails etc.) that this website sends are sent over the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP). This website’s SMTP servers (provided by MailChimp) are protected by TLS (sometimes known as SSL) meaning that the email content is encrypted using SHA-2, 256-bit cryptography before being sent across the internet.
Follow-up emails
As the majority of our products feed each species for approximately 3 months, we will email existing customers reminders to top-up if an order has not been placed after 3, 6 and 12 months.
For this service we use Metorik. Your email address will remain within Metorik’s database for as long as we continue to use Metorik’s services for follow up emails or until you specifically request removal from the list. You can do this by unsubscribing using the unsubscribe links contained in any follow up emails that we send you or by requesting removal via email. When requesting removal via email, please send your email to us using the email account that was used when you purchased.

The data that we collect from you is processed by staff who work either for us or for one of our service providers. Such staff may be engaged in, among other things, the fulfilment of your order, the processing of your payment details and the provision of support services, such as delivery.
All information you provide to us is stored on our secure servers. Any payment transactions will be encrypted using secure sockets layer (SSL) technology.
Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to the Website; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.
